Ian Furness

Ian Furness is a Seattle native and WSU alum who has been at FOX 13 in a variety of roles since 2009. He is currently a sports anchor and reporter who can be seen on FOX 13 News, Gameday and Seattle Sports Live. While at FOX 13, Ian has covered a variety of sports and big events, including Super Bowl 48 and 49. He is recognized most often for his role as the station’s gameday reporter covering the Seattle Seahawks for FOX 13 since 2010.

Ian’s other television work has included hosting Portland Trailblazers pre and postgame shows on NBC Sports Northwest along with providing play by play on ROOT Sports Northwest and Fox Sports Rocky Mountain.

The son of former KOMO News anchor Milt Furness, Ian began his media career at KOMO as a sports producer. He then moved on to work at KVI Radio as a play by play announcer and sports anchor. His radio experience includes more than 25 years of play by play and hosting sports radio shows.

In addition to his role at FOX 13, Ian hosts a daily sports talk show on Sports Radio 93.3 KJR FM in Seattle. He has been at KJR since 2006 as a host, first in the evening time slot and now as a midday host since 2008. Prior to coming back to his hometown, Ian hosted sports radio shows in Portland and Salt Lake City. At KJR, Ian has filled in on Seattle Kraken broadcasts and provided the play by play for the first win in the franchise’s history.

During his career, Ian has been honored twice as the State Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association in both Utah and in 2021 in Washington.

A WSU Cougar alum, Furness holds an annual golf tournament and works with a local brewery for the Mayor of Maple Valley charity beer which benefits the Hilinski’s Hope, Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation and The Jordan Morris Foundation. The "Mayor" events have raised over $100,000 for the charities.

Ian and his wife Tammy have two children-daughter Briony who is a local school teacher and his son Kiefer who is a student athlete playing college football
