White Pass closed once again due to rockslides, unstable slopes
White Pass reopens, Stevens Pass remains closed
Following a days-long closure, White Pass has reopened as of Monday afternoon. Stevens Pass will stay closed likely until Wednesday
LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. - After a days-long closure due to hazardous weather conditions, White Pass reopened on Monday. However, just hours after it reopened, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced that they will be closing the pass once again.
US 12 at White Pass will close overnight Monday into Tuesday due to a rockslide and unstable slopes west of the summit.
Crews will re-evaluate Tuesday morning to determine what needs to be done before reopening.
Snoqualmie and Blewett Pass reopened on Sunday, and despite the narrow corridors and volume of traffic, WSDOT was pleased to announce there were no crashes. Drivers are still encouraged to delay their trips to reduce the risk of closures on the passes.
Stevens Pass is still expected to open Wednesday, nearly a full week after it initially closed.
