17-year-old killed in Kent shooting, suspects sought

Kent Police are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 17-year-old on Tuesday night.

Kent patrol officers were dispatched to the Valley Medical Center in Renton after hospital staff reported a patient arrived with a bullet wound to his head.

According to dispatch, the 17-year-old teen had been dropped off by two unidentified men who then fled the area. Despite lifesaving measures, the teen did not survive.

FOX 13 has since learned the shooting is related to the massive road closure that was reported late Tuesday night.

Patrol officers located witnesses and evidence that the teen was shot in the same area earlier in the evening. Investigators believe that subjects in two separate vehicles exchanged gun fire, causing the injury to the victim.

Kent Police Detectives responded to the scene and conducted an extensive investigation, including reviewing area surveillance video.

FOX 13 spoke to one witness who described one of the suspects and the vehicle involved.

"The only thing that we all saw was a guy in a Camaro out the sunroof shooting," said the witness.

Bullets did hit the nearby strip mall, hitting at least one storefront, Himalayan Café. Luckily, the restaurant was closed and no one was inside at the time of the shooting.

There were no other reports of injuries.
