Families of 5 Marysville-Pilchuck victims seek $110M from school district, father of shooter

MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Five families of teenagers shot by a classmate at Marysville-Pilchuck High School are seeking up to $110 million in damages from the school district and from the father of the shooter.


The Seattle Times reports (http://goo.gl/4uMwvL ) lawyers for the Marysville School District received the claim for damages in an email Friday. The claim, a precursor to a lawsuit, was filed by Tacoma law firm Connelly Law Offices.

Gia Soriano, Zoe Galasso and Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, all 14, and 15-year-old Andrew Fryberg were killed in October 2014 after Jaylen Fryberg invited them to sit with him at lunch. Wounded in the gunfire was 15-year-old Nate Hatch.

Jaylen Fryberg fatally shot himself after shooting the others.

In a written statement, Marysville School District spokesman Craig Degginger said they were disappointed to learn a claim has been filed.
