SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Fire Department officials say a motorcyclist has been killed and a pedestrian critically injured in two separate vehicle crashes in Seattle.

Authorities said a motorcyclist died after hitting a pole at about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood.

About an hour later, a motorist hit a female pedestrian in the Belltown area of downtown.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Seattle police say the 85-year-old driver was evaluated and showed no signs of impairment.

Detectives continue to investigate the crashes.
