FBI: Church gunman shouldn’t have been able to get gun

WASHINGTON (AP) — FBI Director James Comey says the gunman charged in the Charleston church massacre should not have been allowed to purchase the gun used in the attack.

Comey on Friday attributed the problem to incomplete and inaccurate paperwork related to an arrest of Dylann Roof weeks before the shooting.

He says an FBI examiner who looked into Roof’s background when he tried to purchase a gun never saw an arrest report in which police say he admitted to possessing drugs. The arresting agency was listed erroneously on the rap sheet that the examiner reviewed.

Under FBI rules, that admission should have disqualified Roof from being able to buy a gun.

The transaction went through after three days because the examiner didn’t have enough information to authorize or deny it.

And yet people want universal background checks. The existing ones don’t stop criminals, and more draconian ones won’t either. Even if a criminal is turned away (instead of arrested, tried and convicted like they should be), they’ll just wind up getting someone else to buy one for them, or buy one from another criminal. You cannot stop people who are intent on doing harm. You especially cannot infringe on the rights of the law-abiding in the process of trying, either.

This story is incorrect. Early on when this incident happened It was reported that his FATHER BOUGHT THE GUN as a birthday gift to his son.

No, that story was incorrect. It came out the next day after that he passed the BG check and got the gun himself. A testament to how trying to be first to report things has led to a society of perpetually misinformed people, and often willfully so.

The sad truth is if someone in that Bible group had a gun maybe this wouldn’t have happened ,why do you think these types go into churches or kindergarten class to kill . Bullies are too cowardly to fight fair they always stack the deck that’s why they cause so much harm!
