Brazen package thief caught on high-def home security camera in Puyallup

PUYALLUP, Wash. --  A homeowner in Puyallup has surveillance video of a woman walking up to his front door and stealing a package in broad daylight.

While on vacation, Jed Wright gets a notification that a package has been delivered to his home.  He calls his neighbor to go pick it up.  When he gets there, the package is nowhere to be found.

Luckily, Jed has a hi-def home security system with several cameras.  He goes through the footage and, bingo, he has the thief on camera.

"My initial thought is what else are they going to take?  What are they looking for?  Are they going to come back for more," Wright said.

Jed lives in what he considers to be a nice quiet neighborhood around 159th Place East in Puyallup.  However, he says there has been an uptick in car prowls in the area and that's when he decided to invest in a hi-def camera system.

"It allows you to rest easier at night knowing whats going on when your not around," Wright said.

Jed says he's frustrated by the theft because the package included items for his upcoming wedding in August.  His fiancé, Megan Smith says its a big inconvenience.

"We're getting in a crunch time, now we have to order more things.  We still have to do more stuff so now its just more and more," Smith said.

Jed filed a police report and hopes the criminal is caught.

"All I can say is karma, what comes around goes around, she'll get hers and I hope somebody recognizes her or that vehicle and she gets hers quickly."
