SEATTLE — A fraternity at the University of Washington was suspended after allegations of hazing.

The Beta Theta Pi Fraternity’s international headquarters is investigating and all activities at the local chapter are suspended.

It is not clear what spurred these new charges.

The UW Office of Fraternity & Sorority life released this statement:

“The Office of Fraternity & Sorority life received allegations of hazing at Beta Theta Pi last week and shared that information with the international headquarters office of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.  We appreciate the prompt and immediate response of the headquarters office in traveling to Seattle to investigate and fully support the General Fraternity taking the lead in the investigative process.  During this time, all chapter activities of the Beta Theta Pi chapter have been suspended by the international headquarters office.  We are awaiting the results of the investigation from the General Fraternity and will have more information at that time.”

Beta Theta Pi was suspended for hazing back in 2004.
