Police: Two men tackled 'up-skirt' voyeur at soapbox derby

SEATTLE -- Police are investigating a 48-year-old man who was tackled and held to the ground by two bystanders at the Red Bull Soapbox Derby event Sunday, after the men allegedly spotted suspect trying to take "up-skirt" videos with his phone.

Police were alerted to a disturbance around 2:45 p.m. at the soapbox event near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Yeslery Way, Seattle police officers said. When they arrived on scene, they found two men holding a third men to the ground.

The two men detaining the other told police they spotted the 48-year-old suspect walking up behind a woman with his iPhone and placing the camera directly under their skirts, recording "up-skirt" video of the crotch region, police said. They said they tackled him to the ground when they noticed his actions and hailed police.

Police interviewed the victim and determined she did not know the suspect, nor did she know she was being filmed. The victim's age was not identified in the police release, but it did say she was with her mother.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of voyeurism. He is being held in King County Jail on $60,000.
