NY Mets plan slumber party for fans

QUEENS, NEW YORK - Only in New York?  In the city that never sleeps, the New York Mets are planning an all-night party -- a sleepover -- for their fans Aug. 10.

Up to 500 fans, each willing  to pay $200, will get to pitch their tents and unfurl their sleeping bags on the outfield grass at Citi Field and watch the Mets play the Arizona Diamonbacks.

Here's the catch: the game that night is actually a road game, in Phoenix.  So, Mets fans will watch the game on the Citi Vision scoreboard.  Also included in the price of admission, fans get a buffet dinner and get to schmooze with Mr. and Mrs. Met, the team's mascots.

If this sleepover idea catches on, could the Mariners be thinking about holding one at Safeco Field?  A sleepover event "is not on the agenda" for this season, Mariners' spokesperson Rebecca Hale said.
