White House reveals first official portrait of First Lady Melania Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The White House on Monday released its first official portrait of First Lady Melania Trump.

The photograph was taken in the West Sitting Hall of the White House private residence, CNN confirmed. The photographer, Regine Mahaux, is well-known for her celebrity portraiture and has taken several pictures of Trump in the past, including high-glamour editorial images.

“I am honored to serve in the role of First Lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years,” Mrs. Trump said.

For her official first lady look, Trump opted for a black tuxedo-style jacked, with a sequined neckerchief. Her engagement ring, reportedly 25-carats, is also on full display.

The picture now accompanies Trump's biography on the White House's official website.

Her predecessor, Michelle Obama, opted to have her first official portrait taken in the White House Blue Room. She was photographed by Joyce N. Boghosian.

In 2013, a second official portrait, by Chuck Kennedy, was released, this time with Mrs. Obama, sporting bangs, in the Green Room.
