Cyclist discovers decomposing body in Redmond retention pond

REDMOND, Wash. — A cyclist discovered a badly decomposing body Sunday morning in a retention pond in Redmond.

A spokesman for the Redmond Police Department identified the body’s gender as a man but did release his name.

The woman cyclist initially called police because for a dead animal in the water near Leary Way NE & 159th Pl NE.

Authorities say there are no indications that this was a recent case and that there are no safety issues for the public in the area.

Redmond Police is handling the investigation.
