Authorities investigating death of 76-year-old Skagit County woman as homicide

LYMAN, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say they're investigating the death of a 76-year-old woman northeast of Seattle as a homicide.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports (http://goo.gl/4MTaQY ) law enforcement was called to the woman's home in Lyman for a welfare check June 23. Authorities found the woman's body.

An autopsy done Monday led authorities to start a homicide investigation. The Skagit County Sheriff's Office says they have identified a person of interest and authorities don't perceive an ongoing threat to the community.

The woman's name has not been released.
