AUBURN, Wash. — The mother and father of a 4-month-old girl were arrested on murder charges Friday after their daughter died and she was found to be “extremely malnourished,” the Auburn Police Department said.
Commander Steve Stocker said at about 5:45 a.m. Thursday, officers received a call of CPR in progress on the 4-month-old child at an apartment in Auburn. Medics arriving on scene pronounced the girl dead.
The 34-year-old father and 24-year-old mother of the victim were at the apartment at the time, Stocker said. He said they have two other daughters, 2-year-old twins. Those children were taken into protective custody and turned over the Child Protective Services, he said.
On Thursday, the medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy on the baby girl and found her to be “extremely malnourished,” Stocker said.
Detectives then arrested the parents for second-degree murder.
The investigation is continuing.
