Police: 15-year-old driver may have been drunk in accident that left 4 seriously injured, including child

BURIEN, Wash. -- At least four people were seriously injured when a car broadsided a pickup truck Monday night at 136th and Des Moines Memorial Drive South along the Burien and SeaTac city line, police said.

King County sheriff's deputy R.A. Potter said witnesses reported that a sedan, driven by a 15-year-old girl, was traveling northbound on Des Moines Memorial Drive South at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light and broadsided a small pickup truck traveling eastbound on 136th. Both the driver of the truck,  a man in his 30s, and a 7-year-old in the truck were seriously injured.

Potter said the sedan was occupied by teenagers.

Potter said the underage driver of the sedan would be booked into King County Jail on vehicular assault charges. In addition, he said a warrant was being obtained to conduct a blood draw on the 15-year-old female driver, who officers believe may have been intoxicated.

The conditions of the injured were not immediately released by Harborview Medical Center.
