John and Tony Reed: U.S. Marshals offering $5,000 reward in search for brothers accused of killing Arlington couple

REED BROSWANTED IN SNOHOMISH COUNTY --
John Reed and his brother, Tony are accused of murdering a Snohomish County husband and wife, then trying to hide the evidence.

They're cocky, on the run and probably think they got away with it -- but a whole team of crime fighters is working hard to make sure that doesn't happen.

The Snohomish County Major Crimes Task Force descended on Ellensburg to search a home belonging the brother’s parents as neighbors looked on.

"I think Tony, the guy with the goatee, I believe. I've seen him on and off which is really weird especially after what happened to have someone like that walking around,” said Jason Ehr, who lives nearby.

Detectives were searching for any clues to tie the brothers to the murders of Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude who went missing on April 11th. Ehr adds, "I've kind of seen them haul tables in and out. It looks like something to sort of maybe wrap something up with."

The Reed brothers have both been charged with first degree murder after detectives say they killed Patrick and Monique at their home in Arlington over a property dispute.

The couple's Jeep and Land Rover were found discovered down an embankment in the Oso area, with extensive amounts of blood in the cargo areas.

Patrick and Monique's remains have not been found, but bringing them home is the top priority for Snohomish County Sheriff Ty Trenary. "There is enough evidence for us to believe there's no way anybody could have survived what we recovered." Catching their accused killers is a close second. He's asking for anyone who has information about the Reed brothers to come forward. "I'll tell you initially I thought they made a lot of mistakes and weren't all that intelligent. I am beginning to believe they've been on the run long enough that they may be a little bit smarter than we gave them credit for and I think that they're dangerous."

Margaret Hedlund was a close friend of the couple. “Who does that? I can't understand for the life of me why they would take their lives." She wants the brothers caught to finally get some answers. "I'd like them back alive, because I want to know. I just want to know. I want their story why they felt compelled to kill them."

There’s a massive manhunt underway for the brothers, who detectives think may be near the Mexico border or across it.

It's believed they’re on the run in a car they bought: A gold 2002 Acura TL with Arizona license plates BNN9968.
