South Prairie attempted burglary suspects surrender; tell different stories to Pierce County deputies

Pierce County prosecutors have charged William Holyan and Brenden Pool with Attempted Residential Burglary for allegedly trying to break into a home on AP Tubbs Rd. E in

Deputies say the suspects tried to enter the house by breaking a window and removing the screen. The homeowner’s 15-year-old son was there at the time of the burglary.  He armed himself with a rifle and shouted at the suspects who fled in a small red extended cab pickup truck.  A game camera set up after the home was burglarized on March 10th got surveillance images of them. Deputies don't know whether the two burglaries are connected. Both defendants denied being involved in the previous burglary.

On March 21st, Holyan surrendered at the Buckley Police Department. He told deputies the homeowner’s wife asked him to go to the property to take photos of it because of a custody dispute and ‘she said the home was in disarray.”  When deputies asked why he wore a mask, he said “We didn’t want to be seen.” He also admitted he told Pool not to divulge his name to deputies. The deputy asked him why they were wearing gloves and broke a window if they only intended to take pictures of the outside.  Holyan said, “We were supposed to take pictures inside.” Deputies asked him if he told Pool that there were guns and money inside and he said, “Yes.”  The deputy asked Holyan if he intended to take those items and he told him “probably.”  Pool was released on his own recognizance.  Holyan is being held on $10,000 bail.
