More than 3,000 people pay respects to the late Nancy Reagan at public viewing

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — More than 3,000 members of the public paid their respects in person to the late former first lady Nancy Reagan on Wednesday.

Officials at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, said 3,115 members of the public passed by Nancy Reagan's casket.

The figure doesn't include family and friends who have also paid their respects.

Many more people are still waiting to take part in the viewing that continues until 7 p.m. and resumes on Thursday.

Shuttle buses are bringing mourners a few dozen at a time to the hilltop presidential library.

Nancy Reagan died Sunday at her Los Angeles home. She was 94.
