Latest Seattle exhibit makes math fun for kids of all ages

SEATTLE -- If merely the mention of the word "math" is enough to elicit a groan from your kids,  the newest exhibit at Seattle's Pacific Science Center just might help.

Math Moves! offers kids of all ages (and adults too!) the chance to truly experience how math really does matter in the grand scheme of things. The best part? It's meant to be fun!  "Understanding that this is how the universe talks to itself is critical," says Diana Johns, the Science Center's V.P. of Exhibits. "If you can bring it in an exhibit like this, and just talk about some basic fundamentals in math in ways that show people how they use it every single day in their life, and you get that? Well, that's important."

And the way the exhibit accomplishes this is through several interactive stations that use hands-on activities and concepts to get the kids truly involved. Teamwork, conversation, and even movement are also key parts in the exhibit; from racing a partner to experiment with rates of motion, to using sound to learn about frequencies and shadows to learn about ratios.
