Highline High School student expelled after bringing gun on campus

BURIEN, Wash. -- Administrators say a student who brought a gun to campus at Highline High School was expelled on Monday.

According to Highline Public Schools, the student resource officer contacted a group of students entering the campus after class had already started. The officer discovered one of the students had a gun and confiscated it.

Principal Vicki Fisher sent a letter home to parents Monday afternoon explaining that the student has been expelled, as described in the district's policy and state regulations.

"We want students to feel safe and be safe at school.  Please take the time to discuss with your child the importance of immediately telling an adult any time they see a weapon or something that looks like a weapon at school.  Assure your child that reporting a weapon is the right thing to do and protects everyone at school from harm."
