Crews working overtime to restore power in Snohomish County

BOTHELL – Snohomish PUD Officials say it’s unclear when power will be restored throughout the county. Some residents may still be without power when school starts on Wednesday.

As many as 50 crews were working in the field at one time on Sunday (August 30th, 2015).

“It's pretty horrific actually. Pretty scary. These guys are working hard,” Canyon Park’s Nick Pappas said watching the crews work Sunday.

Saturday’s summer storm was brutal and while winds were fast, the clean-up is not. Thousands in Snohomish County are still without power.

“We can't shower for our jobs or anything. We can't cook. We're doing whatever we can in the grill just to get by,” Bothell’s Byron McPherson explained.  Boiling water to take baths and wash our hair.”

School starts on Wednesday and the struggle is real.

“They're a little nervous.  Hoping it gets back on by tomorrow. They want to be able to take showers and get to their back to school fairs that they have,” Pappas said.

Snohomish PUD crews have been at work since 2pm Saturday violent winds snapped decades old trees like twigs.

228th SE in Canyon Park will stay closed until the downed lines are removed.

Contract crews are coming in from Chelan and Douglas County to work through the night and into the morning.
