SEATTLE -- Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson is opening up about his personal life and talking about the physical side of his relationship with singer Ciara.

Or, more specifically, absence of certain physical relationships.

Wilson joined The Rock Church's Miles McPherson Sunday evening in San Diego to talk about his relationship with God, his activities in the church, his family, his recent divorce and his budding relationship with pop star Ciara.

Wilson went into detail about his decision to abstain from pre-marital sex with Ciara, saying that the couple came to the decision early on in their relationship while she was on tour.

"She was on tour, she was traveling. I was looking at her in the mirror. She was in the dressing room getting ready to go before she went on stage, and she was sitting there, and God spoke to me and said, 'I need you to lead her.' And I was like, 'Really?' And he was like, 'No, I want you to lead her.' So I told her, 'What would you do if we took all of that extra stuff off the table and just did it Jesus' way?' And she was relieved.'"

Wilson is known for his religious beliefs and adherence to Christianity. He said through abstinence, he and Ciara can come closer to God. But though he and Ciara agreed to abstain, he said, it's not always easy.

"I ain't going to lie to you all now," he said, to the laughter of the crowd. "I need you all to pray for us. I know you've seen her on the screen. If there's a 10, she's a 15."

The two have known each other for about six months, he said. Wilson called Ciara the most beautiful, kind person in the world.

"She's everything you could ever want."
