Video shows police officer revive unresponsive baby

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A police officer's quick action helped save the life of an infant who stopped breathing.

KOAT reports Albuquerque police officer Martin Smith immediately started performing CPR  when he was the first responder to arrive at the scene.

Alyssa Rios' 8-month-old daughter Karly wasn't waking up late last month. Police just released the body cam video which shows the rescue.

After rubbing the girl's chest, she eventually moves her fingers and begins to wake up and open her eyes.

"If it wasn't for him who knows what the outcome of the situation could have been," Rios told KOAT. "It really comforted me that he helped out so much I felt relieved."
