Woman arrested after nearly 9-hour standoff in Aberdeen; body found outside home

ABERDEEN, Wash. -- An Aberdeen woman was arrested Friday night after a nearly nine-hour standoff that began when a body was found outside of a home at the corner of Cherry and Oak Streets, media reports said.

KXRO Newsradio said a woman had barricaded herself inside the house and told police she was armed and not coming out. This came after a body was found outside the house, and police arrived to investigate.

About eight hours and 45 minutes after the standoff began, police entered the house and took the woman into custody without incident, Aberdeen police Sgt. Art Laur said, according to the Daily World newspaper.

The investigation is ongoing concerning the body that was on the property, Laur said, adding that the identification of the deceased is not being released at this time.
