LONDON -- A 32-year-old British woman nicknamed the "White Widow" is responsible for the deaths of more than 400 people after becoming a key figure in a terror group, the Daily Mirror reports.

According to the Mirror, Samantha Lewthwaite of Bucks, England, is the mastermind behind four atrocities in and around Somalia as part of the terrorist group al Shabaab. She is reportedly the "right hand" of al Shabaab leader Ahmad Umar, and living in Somalia in hiding. She has been called pure evil because of the atrocities she has committed.

"She is an evil person but a clever operator," a senior anti-terror official told the Mirror.

The London University graduate is the widow of Germaine Lindsay, one of the London 7/7 suicide bombers. She allegedly fled Britain after the attacks, and has been on the run for four years. She is thought to have changed her appearance through plastic surgery, and wears a full robe covering her face and gloves as to not show her skin color.

Lewthwaite is accused of masterminding last month's slaughter at a university in Northern Kenya, where 148 people were shot. She is also accused of bribing desperate families with as little as 300 pounds to recruit teenagers as suicide bombers.

Al Shabaab, an al Qaeda offshoot, control one fifth of Somalia, the Mirror reports. Its fighters hope to impose strict Islamic law, which goes as far as to ban soccer, dancing, music and even mobile phone ring tones.
