Family killed in tragic SR 410 construction accident remembered in celebration of life

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- It’s been a week since a concrete barrier killed a couple and their little boy in Bonney Lake. On Monday night, there was a Celebration of Life held to honor Josh, Vannessa and Hudson Ellis, who all died when a concrete barrier fell onto their truck.

The service at the Puyallup Foursquare Church included tributes in the form of songs and stories.

“Long before they met, she wrote a letter to her future husband,” shared Vanessa Ellis’s sister-in-law Amy Brown.

The tribute also include pictures, which gave a glimpse into the life of a happy family.

“They’re a beautiful picture of the kingdom, and I’m grateful to have known them,” said Kasey Lindsey, who was Vanessa Ellis’s youth ministry intern.

The theme of this service as heard in others was that the Ellis’s loved God and loved people. Josh’s sister Jess affirmed it.

“My challenge to you is to love well, to continue this legacy of my brother, my sister and my nephew,” said Jess Ellis, Josh Ellis’s sister.

While the grief was evident, also clear was the message of love and the belief that Josh, Vanessa and Hudson are where they belong.

“We want to show the world that we grieve differently,” said Eastpointe Foursquare Church Pastor James Ludlow. “We didn’t lose Josh, Vanessa and baby Huddy. We know where they’re at. Can I get an Amen.”
