New water taxi to move people between Seattle and Vashon

SEATTLE (AP) — A new water taxi is set to transport people between downtown Seattle and Vashon Island staring Wednesday.

King County transportation officials say the MV Sally Fox will transport commuters from Pier 50 in downtown Seattle. The boat is one of two new catamarans replacing two leased boats that have been operating between Seattle and Vashon since 2010.

The Sally Fox is built to carry 250 passengers and has space for 26 bicycles.

Bellingham-based All American Marine designed and built the new water taxi. Another water taxi, the MV Doc Maynard, is expected to be delivered this fall.
