Police: Man accused of stealing SUV with 2 kids inside is also rape suspect

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. -- Lacey police confirmed to Q13 FOX News on Sunday that the man accused of stealing an SUV with two kids inside in Lacey is also the suspect in a recent rape case in the Olympia area.

According to Lacey police, tips helped identify the suspect as Curtis Harmon. He was arrested on Thursday by Portland police and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Police also said officers recovered some stolen property.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said Friday night that  a suspect had been arrested in the rape and robbery of a woman in the Olympia area last weekend, but did not identify the suspect at that time.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect is currently in the Thurston County Jail, and additional details would be released on Monday.

On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office released a composite sketch and two photos of a suspect who raped and robbed a woman at knifepoint while she was walking to the store.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect, just minutes after the assault, entered a Rite Aid drug store at the southwest corner of Yelm Highway and Rainier Road SE at 8:31 p.m. Saturday and exited at 8:34 p.m.
