Security video shows critical moments before Everett shooting

EVERETT -- Police say a gunman shot a 22 year-old man in the legs late Monday night in the 500 block of West Casino Road.

Security video that captured the moments before the shooting show two groups of people pushing and shoving. The two groups appear to go their separate ways when several people start running in fear as a light-colored car speeds by.

Shots rang out.

The victim's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, but it's one more incident added to the long list of shootings and drug deals in this south Everett neighborhood that has Jennifer McGowan worried for the safety of her 3-year-old daughter, Lily.

Play time is now out back behind a new fence and padlock to keep unwanted guests out.

McGowan said, "I'm scared for my daughter. Because what happens if she comes outside one day and someone decides to just shoot."

Neighbors who live in apartments above the crime scene say they heard as many as 10 shots.

Police won't comment on the security video. Detectives are examining it right now as evidence, however.

McGowan says Monday night's shooting is the last straw.

"It`s just terrifying. Like I said, I`m gonna have to move out of here. My husband and I have already started looking, but finances are tight," she said.
