Through blackberry bushes, chain link fence, wooden fence, doggy door ... then thief breaks into home
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- In an attempt to remain concealed, a thief cut through blackberry bushes and a chain link fence and then broke through a wooden fence in order to break into a home.
Jonathan Furman returned home from work to find that someone had broken into his home stealing thousands of dollars in valuables.
After breaking through the fence, the thief then stuck his hand through a doggy door and unlocked a sliding glass door to get inside. The burglar got away with laptops, a handgun, and irreplaceable jewelry.
"The monetary thing is not that bad, it's just the sentimental value of those ... is just astronomical," Furman said Thursday.
Forman lives in the home with his wife, son and roommate. Police say the thief must have been watching the home for sometime.
"It's scary to think that I've probably seen them or they've been looking at me," Furman said.
Furman is beefing up security around his house and hopes to get a neighborhood watch organized.
Police are still investigating.
