SPECIAL ELECTION: Highline School District bond measure to replace, fix schools failing in early vote results

SEATTLE -- The Highline School District special election bond measure to replace and renovate deteriorating schools was failing to meet the 60% yes vote needed for passage in initial voting results Tuesday night.

The vote for the bond measure, Proposition 2, showed there was 54% (9,413 votes) for approval and 46% (8,037 votes) for rejection.

The election results will be updated at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday as more ballots come in through the mail.

The Highline School District measure to replace the expiring operating levy was passing 57-43%, and needs only a majority of votes to pass.

The Snoqualmie Valley School District bond measure for facility improvement was passing 62-38%. A minimum of 60% is required for that measure to pass.
