Junuary: Record highs soak Washington in winter warmth

SEATTLE (AP) — Temperatures hit record highs Sunday in western Washington.

The National Weather Service says the 63 at Sea-Tac Airport was five degrees higher than the old record of 58 set in 1986.

Other record highs were 59 at Bellingham, 60 at Hoquiam, 55 at Spokane and 54 at Pullman. Spokane broke the old record of 54 that was set in 1935.

The National Weather Service expects above-normal temperatures to continue this week across Washington.
