BOISE, Idaho (AP) — President Barack Obama left Idaho Wednesday afternoon after promoting his plan for free community colleges and economic tax reforms during a speech at Boise State University.

Idaho was the president’s first stop in his post-State of the Union tour.

While in Idaho, Obama toured a Boise State engineering department lab and met with Naghmeh Abedini, the wife of Boise pastor Saeed Abedini who has been imprisoned in Iran since 2012. He also spoke to a crowd of about 6,600 people at a Boise State sports complex.

It was Obama’s first trip to Idaho since he stopped in Boise during his 2008 presidential campaign. He now heads to Lawrence, Kansas, where he is expected to speak at the University of Kansas on Thursday.
