Autistic boy's service dog shot, killed; heartbroken family offers reward

COPALIS BEACH, Wash. -- An autistic boy's service dog who got out of her pen was found shot less than 24 hours later.

According to the Gray's Harbor County Sheriff's Office, the family called Monday to report that their black and white Pit Bull mix, named Rhea, was missing.



Deputies said they called back the next day to report that the dog had been found with a gunshot wound. The animal was taken to a veterinarian but later died.

The sheriff's office is investigating and asking for anyone with information to call the sheriff's office at 360-249-3711.
