Troopers: 2 hurt after car crosses center line, hits SUV head-on

MASON COUNTY -- Troopers are investigating a head-on crash that sent two people to the hospital Saturday in the Lilliwaup area.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta traveling south on Highway 101 drifted across the center line and hit a Chevy Suburban head-on around 1:00 p.m.

The driver of the Jetta, an elderly woman, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

The other driver was taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.

Nobody else was hurt in the crash.

Authorities said traffic was alternating one direction at a time on Highway 101 at milepost 329 -- about 25 miles north of Shelton. The road was expected to fully reopen around 2:30 p.m., troopers said.
