Man charged with first-degree murder in stabbing death of 17-year-old girl

REDMOND -- A 25-year-old man who allegedly stabbed and killed a 17-year-old girl earlier this month in Redmond has been charged with first-degree murder.

Daniel J. Haggart, 25, faces charges stemming from the July 18 stabbing that left Cara Neil dead.

Initially, Haggart was charged with attempted murder has Neil fought for her life in the hospital with stab wounds to the chest. She died a week after the stabbing, and the King County Prosecutor's Office amended the charges.

Police said the stabbing following an argument between Haggart and Neil, his girlfriend.

Haggart remains in jail on $1 million bail. He is set to appear in court on Aug. 6.
