lights-and-sirensMEDFORD, Ore. — Police are looking for a Washington teen who allegedly lead Oregon police on a high-speed chase before ditching his stolen car and fleeing on foot into the woods.

According to the Oregon State Police, officers tried to pull over a 2004 Acura driven by the 19-year-old Washington man around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday northbound on Interstate 5 near Medford. The driver failed to yeild, police said, and took off at a high rate of speed.

Police gave chase and the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a curb just off the freeway. Both the driver and a passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Kent, took off on foot.

Police managed to catch up with the 18-year-old female and she was arrested for suspicion of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. However, the 19-year-old male got away.

Officers are searching for the driver, who is described as a white male wearing a white t-shirt. Though police tentatively know his identity, his name has not yet been released.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 664-4600.
