Off-duty Kirkland police officers help fire victims escape

SEATTLE -- Two off-duty police officers help a woman escape from the front porch of her burning home Saturday afternoon in Kirkland.

The fire was reported to Kirkland Fire Department at 3:37 p.m. in the 13700 block of 115th Avenue N.E..

Both officers suffered minor injuries, but were able help the woman off her front porch, as fire crews arrived on the scene.

The woman was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Neighbors also helped other residents get out safely.

Fire investigators are determining the cause of the fire.
