SAN FRANCISCO — New numbers from the Labor Department show the unemployment rate went down a tenth of a percent, from 7.3 to 7.2 in the month of September. Only 148,000 jobs were added over the month. For people still looking for work, location may play an important role.
A new survey by Nerdwallet.com found Lake Stevens was the best city in Washington to find a job. According to the study, the Snohomish County community saw a 50% growth between 2009 and 2012. It boasts a 3.7% unemployment rate with the median household income at $73,128.
Issaquah came in second on the best cities list. Households there earn a median income of $87, 038 and the city has a 3.5% unemployment rate. Some of the top companies there include Costco, Microsoft and Spacelabs Healthcare.
Marysville rounded out the top three. The Snohomish County community has seen a 43% growth between 2009-2012, with a jobless rate under 5%. The other cities rounding out the top ten:
