Wasps and yellow jackets keep things buzzing

SEATTLE — This summer has been great weather-wise, but the hot weather has also brought plenty of bees — more specifically, yellow jackets and other types of wasps.

While they are beneficial to gardeners — not to mention those who work in pest control — picnickers and homeowners often see the wasps as a nuisance.

Keith Glatzer of the Wild Bee Company says that unless the wasps are causing you and major problem, such as blocking access to your home or interfering with your daily routine, it’s best to leave the hive alone until the wasps die off in November.
