wedgeSEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners have won eight games in a row, but a stifling cloud hangs over the team as their manager Eric Wedge spent his second night in the hospital Tuesday.

According to the Seattle Times, Wedge was expected to miss the remainder of the series against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday following a dizzy spell that sent him to the hospital Monday night. Bench Coach Robby Thompson will continue to fill Wedge’s managerial duties.

On Tuesday, Mariners General Manger Jack Zduriencik said he didn’t know how serious Wedge’s sickness would turn out to be or exactly when he would start managing the team again, the Times reported, but said the mustachioed manager was in “good spirits.”

“I think that’s a good thing right now and until we get the full diagnosis… it’s just too early to say,” Zduriencik told the Times.

Wedge is expected to undergo a battery of tests before he is released from the hospital.
