Storm heats up after cold start, beat Chicago
Chicago, IL---
The Storm beat the Chicago Sky at Allstate Arena on Tuesday, July 2, 69-60, winning in Chicago for the first time since Sept. 4, 2008. Tonight marks the first loss for Chicago at home in 2013.
The Storm started ice cold, scoring only seven points in the first quarter, but then finished the half on a 24-6 run to surge past the Sky, taking a three-point lead into halftime, 34-31. The Sky regained the lead 42-41 at the five-minute mark in the third quarter, but a Shekinna Stricklen three gave Seattle the lead for good.
The Storm fell behind by as many as 15, but used swarming defense on Elena Delle Donne and the rest of Chicago, holding the Sky to 29.9% from the field and 18.2% from behind the arc, to take control of the game.
Camille Little and Temeka Johnson led the way for Seattle with 16 points apiece. Johnson also dished out five assists. Tina Thompson was back in double figures with 10 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Stricklen added 14 points.
