Teammates, friends share stories of former UW basketball player

SEATTLE — Former University of Washington women’s basketball player Melissa Erickson died Wednesday after a long battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Erickson was 34.

Her friends and co-founders of the Melissa Erickson Foundation told the story of Erickson’s time as a basketball player and her persistent smile and good cheer in the face of her disease.
