Everett Clinic prescribes sell-off to Bartell

EVERETT -- The Everett Clinic is getting out of the prescription drug business.

According to the Everett Herald, Bartell Drugs is taking over two of clinic’s locations in Marysville and at the main campus in Everett. The clinic closed its third location at Harbour Pointe on May 16th.

The paper reports 25 of the 28 pharmacy staff at the clinic have been offered positions with Bartell. Employees were notified in October about a possible buyout.

Mark Mantei, the clinic’s Chief Operating Officer, told the Everett Herald that they considered several options, but agreed to sell to Bartell because it was a local business.

Mantei told the paper the clinic's smaller pharmacies struggled in a market full of competition from big chain stores.
