ID needed after safe falls on suspect's legs during burglary at White Center cell phone store

WHITE CENTER, Wash. -- Two thieves tried -- and failed -- to steal a large safe from a Cricket Wireless store in White Center, shattering a glass door and causing damage to the store before leaving empty-handed.

According to the King County Sheriff's Office, it happened about 3:30 a.m. Friday, February 28 at the store in the 10200 block of 16th Avenue SW in White Center.

Two suspects backed their minivan into the front door, got out and shattered the glass.

Video shows them trying to haul a large safe out of the store and into their minivan.

"The video footage that we captured is the suspects attempting to bring this large safe outside and as you can see from the video, the safe actually falls on the guy that's going backwards, onto his legs. I can only imagine that was very painful and his friend that was in the front put his end down and came back to help lift the other side off of his friend. I think they finally got to the point realizing the safe was way too heavy, that there was no way they're going to be able to load into the van, especially now that one of the guys, I can only imagine his legs were hurt, so they left empty handed, they didn't end up taking anything at all," said Sgt. Ryan Abbott.

The suspect who had the safe fall on his legs was wearing a baseball hat and has a moustache. The other suspect wore a surgical mask to cover his face.
