Police arrest man after woman's body found in Olympic National Forest

Detectives arrested a 23-year-old Renton man five days after a woman's body was found in the Olympic National Forest.

According to the Clallam County Sheriff's Office, deputies said the two were in an intimate relationship. The man picked up the woman at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Feb. 10 and drove the woman to Blyn.

On Feb. 15, a friend of the woman's reported her missing to San Pablo, Calif. police.

Detectives and FBI agents conducted surveillance on the man and then interviewed him. Investigators said the man admitted to striking the woman in the head with a tequila bottle after a fight.

The suspect was booked into Clallam County Jail on Feb. 20.

BLYN, Wash. -- A body found Friday in the Olympic National Forest in Clallam County is being investigated as a homicide, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives said the woman's body was found in the Buckhorn Wilderness area of the forest, off Forest Service Road 28 south of Blyn.

Investigators said they believe the woman "succumbed to injuries as a result of homicidal violence," but did not release additional information.

The FBI is assisting in the investigation because the woman's body was found on federal forest land.
