Lanes back open after landslide shut down I-5 north near Bellingham

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. -- All lanes of northbound I-5 have reopened after a landslide covered the interstate in debris Saturday morning just south of Bellingham.

Crews from Washington State Patrol and the Department of Transportation were called around 8:00 a.m. to the Lake Samish area.

All northbound lanes of I-5 were blocked at milepost 246.

Crews moved more than 100 yards of debris in order to reopen the interstate. The slide also damaged roughly 200 yards of guardrail, officials said.

Troopers said they believed nobody was hurt in the slide.
