One dead after vehicle hits pedestrian in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood

SEATTLE -- One person is dead after a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood.

Seattle Fire said it happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of MLK Jr. Way South and South Alaska Street.

An SUV that was involved in a crash rolled over and struck a woman who was walking in the area. The woman was trapped under the SUV and died at the scene, Seattle Police said.

Detectives said they do not believe either of the drivers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
