Bonney Lake man arrested in stabbing of 18-year-old

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. -- Police arrested a 38-year-old Bonney Lake man overnight for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old man in the chest earlier this week.

The suspect was located late Friday and booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicions of first-degree assault early Saturday morning, Sgt. Ryan Boyle said.

The weapon used in the assault has not been recovered, he added.

The stabbing took place just after midnight Thursday, police said, in a wooded area between state Route 410 and South Prairie Road.

The victim and his friends encountered a man that they did not know, and there was a confrontation before the suspect stabbed the 18-year-old in the chest.

Medics took the victim to a nearby hospital where he was taken into the Intensive Care Unit. He was listed in stable condition.
