Man arrested in 2018 slaying near Seattle's Alki Beach

SEATTLE (AP) — Police say a man has been arrested in connection with the 2018 fatal stabbing of a man near Alki Beach in West Seattle.

Seattle Police say the 25-year-old man was arrested Monday at a West Seattle coffee shop after detectives received DNA evidence linking the man to an item left at the crime scene.

Jonathan Pecina was killed June 2, 2018.

The break comes six months after Seattle Assistant Police Chief Deanna Nollette was featured in a first-of-its-kind video about the homicide in which Nollette tells the person responsible to turn themselves in.

This week, detectives coordinated with bicycle unit officers and the Southwest Precinct Anti-Crime Team to find the man.

He has been booked into King County Jail on investigation of homicide. His name wasn't released.
